Manager of Design Engineering & Client Relations

Synergy Consulting Engineers is looking for an experienced Manager of Design Engineering & Client Relations who is passionate about leading a team in the design and analysis of building systems. If you have strong technical skills in equipment sizing, load calculations, and BIM in Revit, and you’re ready to take on a leadership role, this could be your next career move. We’re seeking someone who is motivated, teachable, and eager to collaborate while driving excellence in engineering design.

What You’ll Need

  • Proven ability to lead a team of design engineers, assign schedules, review performance, and enforce quality control for deliverables.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, manage several projects simultaneously, and issue reports on time.
  • Extensive knowledge in MEP systems design and testing, and ability to interpret schematic designs, building codes, and energy modeling.
  • Strong project management skills to ensure project timelines, budgets, and deliverables are met consistently.
  • Ability to manage client relationships, understand client needs, and provide effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.

What Qualifies You?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or on track for PE certification.
  • 7+ years of experience in Building Systems Design Engineering.
  • Proficiency in equipment sizing and load calculations, Building Information Modeling (BIM) in Revit, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing drawing interpretation, HVAC and life safety systems.
  • Strong understanding of building codes, architectural and engineering design processes, and industry standards for building systems installation and maintenance.

What’s the Company Like?

  • Average 45-50-hour work week.
  • Greater Grand Rapids or Detroit metro area, or ability to relocate.
  • Hybrid work schedule: Traditional office setting (2-3 days/week) and Virtual/Remote (2-3 days/week).

  • Manage major client relationships with support from others on the leadership team.
