Energy Auditor
Position Purpose
Are you looking for the right place to put your passion for energy conservation and mechanical or electrical engineering expertise to work? If you have experience in building system performance and conducting energy audits this would be a great fit for you to grow your career!
What do you need?
- Ability to analyze data related to energy consumption and identify patterns, inefficiencies, and potential improvements.
- Experience with HVAC systems, electrical systems, insulation, and building construction.
- Attention to detail when inspecting buildings, reviewing energy bills, and documenting observations.
- Experience with energy modeling software and ASHRAE Energy Audit procedures is considered a plus.
What qualifies you?
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
- General knowledge in the ASHRAE Energy Audit process
- 2+ years experience in Mechanical or Electrical systems engineering
- Preferred: Licensed Master Electrician, Mechanical Contractor, or experienced HVAC Technician. Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
What is the company like?
- Average 40-45 hour work week
- Greater Detroit area or ability to relocate
- Onsite work (3-4 days/week)
- Virtual/Remote (1-2 days/week)

Within 1 Month You Will…

- Learn the Synergy way of performing Energy Audits
- Support on Energy Audit projects and gain understanding of the Energy Audit process; building systems installation and performance and maintenance industry standards
- Join a tight-knit team intent on seeing your growth.
Within 3 Months You Will…
- Put what you’ve learned to action by ramping up your workload
- Work independently on the job site and build proficiency in technical report writing
- Become proficient in identifying areas of energy waste; developing and recommending energy-saving strategies and measures
- Immersed in the Synergy way of performing Energy Audits
Within 6-12 Months You Will…
- Contribute to the team by mastering the skills of the role
- Grow in proficiency by adding continuing education to your skill set
- Interact and build rapport with clients for project management
